Bea is the daughter of one of, if not *the best* doe to be produced by Algedi Farms, SGCH Algedi Farm DJ Honey Dew 5*M.  She is sired by Poppy Patch Rollick 'n' Roll whose dam (Poppy Patch Reb's Roxie) and sister (CH Poppy Patch PB Mae West) are doing well in the ring with Poppy Patch, as expected given those beautiful udders!  Bea is the result of an outcross breeding, her sire bringing in ancestry of SGCH NC PromisedLand Legacy Sunday 2*M, SGCH Buttin'Heads Palimony +*B, son of GCH Buttin'Heads Wedding Song, and Twin Creeks Rebel w/o a Cause ++*B.

Bea's first fresh udder is no dissappointment to her ancestry, and she's producing very nice amounts of quality milk for a young first freshener.  (It was her idea to get bred to Cento - jumping into the breeding pen with him while her dam and sister were visiting him!)  She easily delivered buck/doe twins, assisted only by a senior doe living with her.

Bea has earned the Superior Genetics designation in 2011.  She is the *fifth consecutive generation* through her maternal lineage receiving such an honor.  We are very proud of her and thank Siena Rasmussen and Dana McKenzie of Alethia Homestead for breeding this fine girl and allowing us to open our home to her.

Unfortunately I dried Bea off in 2012 thinking she was pregnant.  This was a mistake which allowed her to gain weight (I was thinking she was pregnant, so I didn't realize she was just fat).  This error on my part probably directly impacted her 2013 linear appraisal, being obese, and not showing dairy character.  At least we know she's very feed efficient.  I've weaned her doeling, and she is milking very well, so hopefully she'll return to a healthier weight, more appropriate for a dairy doe.  Luckily the excess weight didn't predispose her to metabolic disturbances following freshening, and she's happily filling the milk pail for us.

Bea's first daughter, SG RHV CTO Peppermint Patty 7*M, appraised very well as a first freshener at Mathiot's Paradise (+VVV 85).  She went on to earn RGCH and Best Udder of Breed at the 2013 Missouri State Fair.  She has a stellar production record as a first freshener.  We have high hopes for a long and productive life for Patty with Greg and Becky Mathiot!

Unfortunately, Bea doesn't behave well on lead for linear appraisal and this has affected her scores.  She also is **very** feed efficient and tends to carry extra weight which hides her dairy qualities.

Bea has been bred to RHV PZ Butch Cassidy for spring 2016 kids.  Assuming we get a doe to retain, she may be offered for sale as a milking doe after weaning.

August 2016: ELITE doe status; August 2017: ELITE doe status
